It’s almost time. The next GeForce series is seemingly upon us. Nvidia has announced plans to host GeForce Gaming Celebration event next month.

The event takes place during Gamescom 2018, which runs from August 21 to 25 in Cologne Germany. So, what can we expect from the event? Nvidia says the event “will be loaded with new, exclusive, hands-on demos of the hottest upcoming games, stage presentations from the world’s biggest game developers, and some spectacular surprises.”

Eager GeForce enthusiasts hope that by “spectacular surprises”, Nvidia means new GeForce graphics card based on next-generation architecture.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of rumors that point to an August reveal. A more recent rumor reported Nvidia’s plan to release the GeForce GTX 1180 in August. Followed by GTX 1170 in September, and GTX 1160 in October. That is of course, if the next GPUs are indeed carry that naming scheme.

Its architecture is something equally shrouded in secrecy. Rumors call for unannounced ‘Turing’ or ‘Ampere’ architecture, not Volta.

What we do know is that the GTX 10-series is now a little over two years old. And its high-time the GPU market witnessed arrival of something much better.
