Super Smash Bros. Sells 3 Million Copies in the US, Nintendo Reveals

December played to host to the highly-anticipated Switch exclusive Super Smash Bros. The game received glowing reviews everywhere and holds a Metacritic rating of 92.

Gamers have voted with their wallet and the game has sold over 3 million copies. Nintendo confirmed via a press release today that the figure represents sales from the United States. This is coming from Nintendo’s internal sales data 11 days from launch.

Super Smash Bros. is now the fastest-selling Switch game of all time and also of the franchise.

Nintendo was also proud to announce that according to NPD, Switch outpaced PlayStation 4 and Xbox One to become the fastest-selling games console of current-generation in the United States with more than 8.7 million units sold.

Keep in mind that this is not lifetime sales but Switch’s progress versus the two consoles with their respective progress during the same time in life-cycle.

Other noteworthy highlights of the press release includes sales figures of other titles. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has sold over 4 million copies, Mario Kart 8 sold over 5 million units, and Super Mario Odyssey sold over 4.7 million units. Moreover, Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee! have collectively sold 2 million and Super Mario Party has sold 1.4 million copies.
