It’s over two years now since Nvidia launched the GTX 10-series. So, it gives us a reason why the rumor mill won’t stop talking about when the release of Nvidia’s highly-anticipated GeForce 11-series will take place.

A user named SC2Mitch on the Linus Tech Tips forums was able to snap a picture of an Asus GeForce GTX 1180 STRIX and MSI GTX 1180 Gaming X up for sale on a Vietnamese site H2 Gaming.

Both variants feature a very similar design to current GTX 10-series variants from Asus and MSI.

The listing also describes GTX 1180 featuring Micron’s new GDDR6 – sixteen gigabytes of it. The listing, if true, confirms our expectations that the next GeForce series will introduce next-gen memory. And interestingly, the GPU codename is GT104. It confirms another rumor – the next consumer GPU architecture from Nvidia is Turing, not Volta.

The listing comes hot on the heels of a recent report that Nvidia is sending out invites to press for an event. This event has not been identified or carries a release date. All that has been reported is that it will take place sometime around or at Gamescom this year. What is the event about? Like we said, there is no information.

Nvidia’s CEO Jen Hsun Huang made it perfectly clear during Computex 2018 that the next GeForce graphics cards won’t be out before “a long time from now”.
