Get your horses ready, the Red Dead Online beta begins this week. After nearly a month into Red Dead Redemption 2’s release, Rockstar Games have announced that beta for the highly-anticipated online multiplayer will roll out in beta phase starting November 27.

But the beta will be initially for select people, the rollout is actually Early Access. People who bought the Red Dead Redemption 2: Ultimate Edition will receive access to Red Dead Online as soon as it’s available on November 27.

On November 28, the beta will be accessible for people who played the game on October 26, followed by November 29 when it will be made available to those who played between October 26 to October 29.

Finally, the beta will be made available to all owners of the game on November 30.

The purpose of launching in beta first is to have users report problems. Clearly, Rockstar doesn’t want want to overwhelm their servers by launching in full first. Rockstar is taking this opportunity to extract feedback from the community to shape “the future of the full Online experience”.

Here’s how Rockstar describes the Red Dead Online experience:

With the gameplay of Red Dead Redemption 2 as its foundation, Red Dead Online transforms the vast and deeply detailed landscapes, cities, towns and habitats of Red Dead Redemption 2 into a new, living online world ready to be shared by multiple players. Create and customize your character, tailor your abilities to suit your play style and head out into a new frontier full of things to experience.

Explore the world solo or with friends. Form or join a Posse to ride with up to seven players; gather around the fire at your Camp; head out hunting or fishing; visit bustling towns; battle enemy gangs and attack their hideouts; hunt for treasure; take on missions and interact with familiar characters from across the five states; or fight against other outlaws in both spontaneous skirmishes and pitched set-piece battles; compete with other players or whole Posses in open world challenges and much more.

The beta will be available on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
